Jaeger targets Whistles and Reiss with younger sub-brand

Boutique by JaegerBoutique by Jaeger Jaeger is targeting premium high street brands Whistles and Reiss with a younger, cheaper sub-brand- due to launch in July for autumn/winter.

Fashionbite popped to Jaeger’s press day yesterday to check it out. …

The new sub-brand is called Boutique by Jaeger and is aimed at the 20-plus market, with a youthful handwriting and priced between 30-50% cheaper than Jaeger London, Jaeger’s catwalk collection. A silk dress will retail for about £150, a jersey dress £99, coats £225 and jackets £125. Jaeger said the collection is aimed at the Whistles/Reiss customer.

Boutique by Jaeger is inspired by the 1960′s Young Jaeger range, which also targeted that 20-plus customer, and hopes to draw a younger crowd to the brand. The line consists of key separates to mix-and-match including materials such as leopard jacquards, georgette candy stripes, electric-blue crepe and lurex hologram sweatshirts. Hemlines are shorter and jackets are cropped. Bomber jackets and tulle t-shirts sit alongside zippered silk dresses and rolled-up shorts. There is definitely a younger vibe about the whole collection. It’s fun and flirty- less formal-feeling compared to the mainline ranges.

I’ve included some pics below, what do you think..?

Whistles to debut new Roksanda Ilincic collection online today

Whistles is launching a preview video of its latest collaboration with designer Roksanda Ilincic today at 4pm.

This is the second Roksanda Ilincic dress collection for Whistles and follows a fabulous catwalk show at London Fashion Week this season featuring Roksanda’s mainline range, see fashionbite’s post Sonia Rykiel for H&M:why we love designer tie-ups.

The collection of ten dresses take their names from poisonous British wild flowers and combine tailored cotton alongside diaphanous silks.

Half the dresses are structured, presented in a palette of midnight blue and nude. Complementing the structured pieces are five dresses in soft silks in a range of summer colours from sour apple to buttery yellow.

Whistles chief executive Jane Shepherdson said: “‘This second collection that Roksanda has designed for us is even more exquisite than the first. She has created a fairy tale range of just 10 dresses that are instantly recognisable as hers, and showcase her signature combination of elegance and edginess perfectly.”

Roksanda said: “The collection was inspired with the feelings that summer brings in all of us: fun, happiness and lightness! I wanted to project all those feelings into the clothes. The collection continues in the same spirit as last season’s, which is to appeal to women of all ages.”

The Roksanda Ilincic for Whistles spring summer ’10 film will debut today at 4pm on Whistles’ website and run until midnight tonight, giving customers an exclusive first glimpse of the collection before it goes on sale at the end of March.

You’ll also be able to reserve your favourite pieces in advance via a pop up window…can’t wait!

After midnight, the footage will be removed and no longer be visible until the official launch at Whistles St Christophers Place store on March 25.

Sonia Rykiel for H&M: why we love designer tie-ups

I finally got round to checking out the new Sonia Rykiel for H&M collection last night- been so hectic with On|Off at London Fashion Week didn’t get the chance to head to the launch on Saturday.

I went to the large H&M store opposite Bond Street tube, London, and was quite suprised to see a lot of stock still on sale…but also really pleased as I managed to nab myself this gorgeous little rhinestone beret-I’ve had my eye on it ever since the preview pics landed in my inbox!

However, despite there still being a fair bit of stock, key pieces, such as a striped knitted jumper dress, had sold out. For more details about the collection, see fashionbite’s earlier post ‘Sonia Rykiel for H&M launches next week.’

I love H&M’s designer collaborations -they’re a fantastic way to buy a piece of the designer, without the price tag!

Talking of which, yesterday I saw Roksanda Ilincic’s autumn winter 2010 catwalk show at London Fashion Week (she recently launched a capsule collection for high street boutique chain Whistles).

The collection was stunning, fluid, silk dresses, sheer blouses and beautiful fabrics, accompanied by a feel-good soundtrack of disco songs such as ‘You Make Me Feel.’ It had a definite Studio 54, early Halston-esque vibe, see my blog at On|Off for more details about the show.

Whistles boss Jane Shepherdson was spotted on the front row, so hopefully this means future collaborations are in pipeline. Watch this space!

Whistles to relaunch website: UPDATE

I’ve had a little poke around Whistles new website and here are my thoughts. It looks fab, is easy to navigate and clearly represents the product and the brand. The site design is pared down minimal, with a colour palette of grey and white- very in tune which the new brand direction. The ‘collections’ area displays all the product on one model, merchandised differently with each pose. If you click on a specific item you are then taken through to the shop with details of the piece. In the shop area, you can see the fabric of the item in greater detail by hovering your mouse over the image.

I like the style, it’s simple to use (no gimmicks) but very detailed in what it offers the customer. Alongside Whistles own label, the site also offers over 10 new, young designers. These include Sophie Hulme, Hope and Alex Monroe, which are all merchandised in their own space on the site, clearly differentiating them from Whistles mainline collection. The site is great for the brand and customers- it is simple and understated but still rich in detail.

Visit it for yourselves at www.whistles.co.uk and let me know your thoughts..

whistles Whistles is currently in the process of relaunching its website at www.whistles.co.uk..i’ll update later with my thoughts on the revamped offer!

Also, thought I’d flag up a new online store, perfect for all you transatlantic shoppers! The company’s called Bundle Box and you can visit it online at www.bundlebox.com. The site allows you to buy from any US website, by giving you your own US address which you can have the goods shipped to. Once you register (which is free of charge), you’ll be given a bundle box address where you can store as many goods as your box will fit, for up to 30 days. The box will then be shipped out when you request it, which will take between 5 to 10 working days.

The site will calculate the import duty and VAT charges, depending on how much stuff you’ve ordered, and it will all be included within the price. For example, you can pick up a new Blackberry Curve for $243, which would be £189 from Bundle Box including shipping costs. To order a Blackberry Curve handset from The Carphone Warehouse in the UK, you’d be paying between £300 and £400, depending on what model you go for…so we’re talking about massive savings!

Around half of the top US websites also don’t currently ship to the UK, so it could solve all your problems if you’re an avid Macy’s, Abercrombie and Fitch or JCPennys fan..and it’s cheaper than your airfare!
