Natalie Massenet, founder of Net-a-PorterLuxury online fashion group Net-a-porter is launching a menswear website ‘Mr Porter’ in January, for the spring/summer 2011 season.

Mr Porter will launch with over 60 designer fashion labels and a selection of niche specialist brands, along with newly discovered labels from around the world.

The site will stock brands such as Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, YSL, Margiela, Balmain, Dunhill, Margaret Howell, Rick Owens, John Lobb and MR Roland Mouret.

Mr Porter will be a separate website with its own dedicated buying team, but run under the umbrella Net-a-porter Group, which also owns designer discount website The Outnet.

Net-a-porter founder Natalie Massenet says: “This is an incredibly exciting new venture for us and one we have been planning for some time. We have always said that Net-a-porter will remain a woman’s brand and now we are ready to create a dedicated men’s shopping destination entirely conceived with the stylish man in mind.

“We have a ready-made customer base for our men’s business. 100% of Net-a-porter customers have a man in their lives in some capacity and 59% of them are married or living with their partners. 3 million unique users trust and love Net-a-porter’s service and will be invited to make a purchase for the men in their lives.

“Additionally we look forward to welcoming a new group of super stylish men who join us to shop for themselves with the same level of service, dedication and commitment that women have had for the last decade.”

Maxi dress- the summer must-have!

The sun’s out, it’s going to be a gorgeous weekend and I don’t know about you but I’m starting to get really excited about the prospect of these long, hot summer days!

I’m actually off on holiday next month with a friend, we’re going to Singapore (staying with her Mum) then heading to Bali/Lombok..any tips welcome!

So, I’m having to plan my summer wardrobe early and the maxi-dress is a key piece. Dress-down with bikini, flats and a beachbag for day or killer heels and chunky accessories for night.

When Asos opened its doors to fashion bloggers recently, check out my blog post- they were also kind enough to give us a £100 voucher in our goodie bags!

I bought this stunning One Teaspoon beaded tie dye maxi dress (above), it looks great with some strappy black wedge ankle boots (also Asos) and a stack of gold bangles. I can’t wait to wear it..not quite warm enough here just yet!

Maxi-dresses are everywhere this summer, you can pick up some fab high street versions at Topshop and Miss Selfridge or if your budget allows, take a look at Net-a-Porter for that designer piece.

Check out this stunning Halston maxi-dress at Net-a-Porter – a great way to channel your inner Carrie pre-SATC 2 next month!

The Outnet, Net-a-porter’s spin-off discount site- the self-styled ‘home of chic-onomics’, is launching a £1 pop-up sale for one-day only.

The winner will work with an Outnet.com stylist to pick a fabulous outfit – five pieces – for the grand total of $5/£5/€5!

So, what would Fashionbite wear to The Outnet’s first birthday bash?

I would raid The Outnet and rock up in this fab Preen veronica silk dress, with 50% off at £480, accessorised with a Thomas Wylde suede clutch, down 60% to £394 and finished off with these stunning peep-toe Halston boots, down 70% to £492.

Wedding dress shopping??

I’m getting to the point now where lots of my friends are getting engaged. Hen do’s, wedding invites, venues, dresses… are all becoming part of mainstream conversation.

I popped to the launch of Net-a-Porter’s new wedding boutique last week- see Net-a-Porter launches new wedding boutique- and I have to admit, even I started lusting after the gorgeous dresses, shoes, accessories and even matching honeymoon suit/vanity cases on offer.

Your wedding dress is probably one of the most expensive and well thought-out outfits you’ll ever wear, but what advice is out there…?

iStylista founder and award winning stylist Chantelle Znideric shares her top tips with Fashionbite readers on how to dress for the big day….

Wear a wedding dress that suits your body shape

“With so many dress choices out there the task is a daunting affair. Don’t be fazed by what seems like hundreds of different dress styles and avoid advice from hard selling shop assistants (some benefit from substantial commissions).

Everyone is individual so remember, what might look fabulous on somebody else may not necessarily suit your body shape or proportions.

Take a friend along who has a similar build and frame to you, when you pick out a dress get her to try it on for you as well. It’s always easier to see what you like and dislike on somebody else.”

Focus on enhancing your best bits

“The secret to looking great whatever size you are is to enhance the bits you like about your body.

If you have toned arms, beautiful shoulders and neck then don’t just go for a typical strapless style; draw attention to this area by choosing a dress with an unusual neckline or a halter neck style.”

It’s not about what you wear but how you wear it

“You are gorgeous so just you remember that – you are the one getting married after all!

Wearing your wedding dress practice walking around in front of a mirror, the idea is to feel confident wearing it so it’s a chance to perfect and assess your posture.

You are the lucky one getting married so wear your biggest smile ever – you will instantly look and feel more confident without even knowing it!”

Face your wedding party with confidence

“Shop around for a fabulous make-up artist and once found ask for a referral before you commit.

Ensure your make-up enhances your natural features whilst still making you look recognisable afterwards.

After the trial session with your make-up artist, ask him or her to take a photo of your make-up so you can see what it looks like in photographs, and tweak it if necessary.”

Feel confident underneath it all

“Never underestimate the power of sexy underwear, there’s nothing like wearing beautiful lingerie to make you feel like a million dollars.”

Chantelle offers wedding styling sessions for brides, mother of the bride and/or wedding parties. Visit her at iStylista to book an appointment.

Net-a-Porter launches new wedding boutique

Fashionbite popped to the launch of Net-a-Porter’s new wedding boutique at Claridges last night.

The new area, which launches on February 16th, is a one-stop shop for the alternative-style wedding. The boutique has been split into four sections; Country Wedding, City Hall Wedding, Cocktail Wedding and Beach Wedding.

The Country Wedding caters for the more traditional bride, exchanging her vows on a beautiful country estate surrounded by family, friends, flowers and a towering cake. She spends her big day dressed in a stunning full-length Alice temperley gown, Lanvin ’20′s-style draped muslin gown veil and Judith Leiber diamante clutch.

The City Hall wedding speaks to the urban fashionista, an intimate civil ceremony followed by a fabulous cocktail party (very SATC!). A short, chic, tailored Donna Karan skirt suit, towering ivory Alexander McQueen peep-toes and a string of Stella McCartney pearls complete the look.

The Cocktail wedding has an edgy, modern twist. A super-cool warehouse party complete with DJ and non-stop dancing. Dress to impress with Valentino’s sculptural ruffle-front mini dress, teamed with Giuseppe Zanotti’s crystal-sprayed sandals.

The Beach wedding is for the destination bride, spent relaxed on a warm, secluded Caribbean beach or a rustic Mediterranean hideaway. Shapes are fluid, accessories are nature-inspired and shoes are flat..or barefoot. A long, flowing Grecian-style 3.1 Phillip Lim dress, made beach perfect with Paloma Raffia wedges.

However, it doesn’t stop there- the Wedding Boutique also caters for mother of the bride, wedding guests and honeymoons, with a full range of accessories and shoes. The packaging is also unique to the Wedding Boutique, with parcels delivered in fabulous white boxes wrapped beautifully with Net-a-porter ribbon. Pricepoints range from £300 to £12,000.

Net-a-porter buying director Holli Rogers said: “Our bridal boutique caters to traditional tastes but also offers an amazing selection of non-classic gowns. It’s the perfect choice for the more spontaneous among us who don’t have time for custom-made and who simply want a fabulous look.”

The dresses are absolutely stunning…worth getting married for!

Holli also suggested that brides-to-be and friends can have a champagne get to together one evening, where they can try on outfits in the comfort of their home.

Sounds perfect…!!

Paul and Joe launches EXCLUSIVE collection for The Outnet

Paris-based designer Paul and Joe has created an exclusive collection for TheOutnet.com, Net-a-Porter’s spin-off discount site, which is due to launch December 1. The limited edition capsule collection will showcase 30 styles, ranging from £85 to £250, a fraction of the cost of its mainline range.

The Outnet, in case you haven’t come across it, is the bargain hungry fashionista’s dream site. It sells previous season stock from all the top designer brands at massive discounts! Earlier this year, I interviewed incoming director Stephanie Phair about her new role as head of The Outnet, just as it was launching. She was an impressive lady, with a CV that spanned 10 years in fashion, including a stint on US Vogue under the guise of Anna Wintour.

One of the key questions I asked was how Net-a-porter would ensure both brands were kept separate, so The Outnet could flourish in itself rather than becoming a clearance site for Net-a-Porter’s excess stock. Along with having brands which are solely stocked on The Outnet, Phair said she would look to introduce designer collaborations, exclusive to the site, which would be in keeping with their lower price points.

I’m hoping the launch of Paul and Joe for The Outnet will be one of many designer collaborations we’ll be seeing in the years to come…..so watch this space!
