Angelina Jolie tipped as new face of Louis Vuitton

Angelina Jolie tipped as new face of Louis VuittonThe rumour mill has chugged into overdrive as – after a lovely, hot, summery, BBque-filled Easter break- I’m back to the news that Angelina Jolie has been hotly tipped as the new face of luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

Following in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez and Madonna, the Hollywood actress is understood to have secured a $10 million deal for a print-only ad campaign shot by the photographer Annie Liebovitz.

It will be Jolie’s most high-profile modelling job in recent years. She was previously the face of the more conservative US brand St John from 2005-2008, until she was replaced by redhead supermodel Karen Elson.

Elson actually appeared alongside supermodels Christy Turlington and Natalia Vodianova in a movie-star inspired AW10 ad campaign for Louis Vuitton, see FashionBite’s post Louis Vuitton’s New AW10 Ad Campaign: FIRST LOOK.

A tie-up with Louis Vuitton’s creative director Marc Jacobs is definitely a notch up the fashion ladder for Jolie.

Louis Vuitton’s new autumn/winter ’10 campaign: FIRST LOOK

Louis Vuitton, new ad campaign Marc Jacobs looks to ‘beautiful, ladylike clothes’ for inspiration for Louis Vuitton’s autumn/winter ’10 collection, in contrast to the very bohemian feel of spring/summer- inspired by the New Age traveler.

Marc, Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, says: “The strength of Louis Vuitton is its almost magical ability to reinvent itself every season.”

The new ad campaign, shot in a New York studio by Steven Meisel, brings together three decades of supermodels – Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova.

The set resembles a glamorous movie star’s dressing room (complete with lights around the mirrors!) and shot in soft sepia tones. Models pose in bustiers, fifties knits and sweeping skirts, surrounded by stacks of opened shoe boxes.

The campaign will showcase in the August issues of magazines.

Louis Vuitton launches tie-up with Takashi Murakami

Designer Louis Vuitton is to launch a spring/summer collaboration with Japanese Neo-Pop artist Takashi Murakami.

The capsule range, called Cosmic Blossom, features Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram flowers on bright, block colour backgrounds. Smiling flower faces sit alongside traditional Japanese pictorial motifs. The collection has a very 1970′s Carnaby Street, flower power-esque feel to it…perfect for those carefree summer days.

The range consists of leather goods, ready-to-wear and accessories; including t-shirts, holdalls, scarves, bandanas, bikinis and shoes.

The collection is fronted by British model Daisy Lowe and the campaign was shot in Miami.

Daisy said:“Louis Vuitton is an amazingly well made, classic, chic and beautiful brand.

“The shoot was so much fun, I always love being in the Miami sun and the team were so lovely.

“I have been a huge fan of Takashi Murakami work for a long time, his work with Louis Vuitton is so playful and exciting.”

The collection will be available in Louis Vuitton stores from April 15, see the website for your nearest store.

New season preview: key looks for spring, part I

In its February issue, Vogue has compiled the key designer looks for spring.

For inspiration updating your spring wardrobe, Fashionbite brings you the highlights (in four parts) and where to snap-up the designer looks at high street prices….

LOUIS VUITTON

Cycling shorts and field jackets, dip-dyes and frayed edges are a unique fizzy cocktail in the hands of Marc Jacobs (Louis Vuitton’s creative director). Louis Vuitton’s spring collection is inspired by new age travellers and life on the road.

For pics of Louis Vuitton’s fab spring shoes and accessories, see fashionbite’s earlier post Louis Vuitton rocks clogs. Almost every high street footwear brand has adapted the clog look for spring (so you’ve got plenty to choose from).

For Clarks take on the look, visit Fashionbite’s post Clarks-handbag lust.

Alternatively, Kurt Geiger has some georgeous clog-inspired items for the more daring of shoe lovers.

DOLCE & GABBANA

Dolce & Gabbana reprised their signature corset in a confection of tulle and lace. Corsets featured in black lace, denim, leopard print and floral.

Underwear as outerwear is a key trend for spring, for some fabulous and affordable corset alternatives- visit Corseta-UK, where you can pick one up for under £20.

CHANEL

Chanel embraced all things country for spring, with crochet mini-dresses and an abundance of flowers. Creative director Karl Lagerfield used a spectacular giant barn yard as the backdrop for his catwalk shows.

Lagerfield said: “I loved the thirties creations of Chanel. I reused that idea of pique, or printed flowers, but in a very different, contemporary way.”

Rather than going out top-to-toe crochet, you could adapt the look with crochet detailing on tops/dresses. To search the key high street brands for crochet-inspired items, visit Shopstyle.

GUCCI

The domanatrix-style leather look was strong at Gucci.

Vogue said ‘ribbed and contoured leather provides the closest fit in a scuba-style jacket and shorts,’ to accompany a model wearing the outfit.

Leather, a strong trend for autumn, has continued into spring/summer- see Fashionbite’s Harvey Nichols Trend Report for more details. To get the look, Asos has a fab range of leather skirts/dresses/jackets on offer.

MICHAEL KORS

Body-con dresses were impact-making at Michael Kors.

Kors said ‘Sleek, spare and sexy are the key elements for urban dressing now.’

For stunning pin-up credentials on a budget, Reiss and Oasis have a gorgeous range of body-con dresses.

See tomorrow’s fashionbite for Balenciaga, Dior, Calvin Klein, Alberta Ferretti and Roberto Cavalli.

Louis Vuitton rocks clogs for spring ’10

Louis Vuitton’s footwear offer for spring/summer ’10 looks fantastic, and there was something for everyone (who has the budget!) at their press day this week with killer heels for the daring and clog-inspired kitten heels for those with a penchant for both comfort and fashion. Personally, I love the heels..I’m not sure how long I’d last in them though!

Marc Jacob’s spring/summer 2010 collection for Louis Vuitton moved far away from last season’s Parisian cocktail parties to a range inspired by new age travellers and life on the road. Oversized satchel and duffle bags in denim, apparently bleached by the sun, appeared in vivid shades of pink, green, orange and blue. Alongside sportsbag styles with fluorescent accessories.

To buy online, visit Louis Vuitton’s website early next year.
