Two of the most exciting womenswear designers at the moment – Louise Gray and Mary Katrantzou – have been awarded Fashion Forward sponsorship by the British Fashion Council (BFC) for two consecutive seasons in London.

I first saw Louise Gray quite a few seasons ago at London Fashion Week, showcasing with OnOff. I absolutely love her work - her AW11 was fun, fresh and colourful. Her designs are so exciting and I can’t wait to see more of her. Read my Louise Gray AW11 catwalk report and backstage beauty HERE. Read more

Bicester Village launches British Designers Boutique with BFC

British Designers Collective at Bicester Village, FashionBite

Bicester Village, the designer discount outlet based in the Cotswolds, has teamed up with The British Fashion Council (BFC) – the body which organises London Fashion Week - to launch a pop-up shop featuring hot, young British designers.

The pop-up boutique (pictured) will sell previous season stock at discounts of up to 60% and will be open for six weeks until mid-May. The store has been decorated with on-trend SS11 brights and sharp, neon colours. The idea behind the boutique is to introduce emerging designers to a wider audience and in turn shoppers will benefit from seeing a new generation of designers all under one roof.

The designers include Jonathan Saunders with his signature graphic prints, Felicity Brown with her trademark high-voltage glamour, print specialist Holly Fulton, knitwear guru Markus Lupfer, sharp tailoring from Todd Lynn and of course the fabulous design duo Preen. Other designers include Emma Cook, Felder Felder, Goat, Jean-Pierre Braganza, Marios Schwab and Osman.

Accessories designers participating include Georgina Goodman – hailed as the ‘future of footwear’ by Manolo Blahnik, alongside Jane Carr, Fiona Paxton and A-list favourite Lara Bohinc.

The shop is due to open tomorrow and FashionBite has been invited to the launch party tonight with Brit actress Thandie Newton but unfortunately can’t make it (catching up with school friends I haven’t seen in years!), but it’s definitely worth a trip to Bicester Village over the next six weeks to see!

Peter Pilotto, spring/summer 11

Peter Pilotto, spring/summer 11

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that designers Meadham Kirchhoff, Peter Pilotto and Todd Lynn will receive Fashion Forward sponsorship for two seasons to show at February 2011 and September 2011 London Fashion Week.

The Fashion Forward scheme, which is sponsored by Coutts & Co and supported by the London Development Agency, was established 5 years ago to provide funding to emerging British designers to showcase their collections during LFW, along with access to knowledge to help develop their businesses.

I’m really happy to see that, despite there being budget cuts left, right and centre, we’re still offering support to our up and coming British designers. I write for On|Off during London Fashion Week, the innovative fashion showcase which helps emerging fashion designers showcase during London Fashion Week, alongside putting on catwalk shows for big on schedule design names. In fact, one of the first shows I saw at On|Off was Peter Pilotto a number of seasons ago, which was amazing! On|Off are known for spotting new and fresh design talent.

On|Off is showing again this season during London Fashion Week at a fab new venue with some fantastic visuals such as 3D films and loads of amazing designers…I can’t wait!

Previous Fashion Forward winners have included Christopher Kane, Erdem, Giles Deacon, Jonathan Saunders, Louise Goldin, Marios Schwab, Richard Nicoll, Roksanda Illincic and Sinha-Stanic.
