French organic beauty brand Melvita is continuing its UK expansion by opening a second store, this time in Putney, South West London.
The new shop, which was opened by radio personality and author Janey Lee Grace last Thursday, follows the successful launch of its store in St Martin’s Courtyard, Covent Garden, last November.
Like the brand’s Covent Garden location, the Putney branch has a distinct personality. It features a living plant-covered wall and glass ceiling, as well as a communal area fitted with a chalk board and book collection, to help shoppers feel at home in the store.
Earlier this month, Melvita harped back to founder Bernard Chevilliat’s bee-keeping past by installing bee hives on the roof of its Covent Garden store.
Chevilliat originally created the brand’s products using the honey collected from his farm in France.

The Melvita City Apiary will be a permanent fixture in the St Martin’s Courtyard roof garden, above the store.
In February, FashionBite attended Melvita’s birthday party at London’s Century Club, to celebrate the brand’s first year in the UK.
At the event, the brand announced plans to launch a host of new ranges in the UK including suncare, face care and quintessential oil collections. In May, it will unveil its Algascience Slimming Oil and Exfoliating Scrub.
The L’Occitane-owned brand sells over 300 beauty and skincare products in the UK.
