Asos: key looks for spring/summer

Asos is launching in an explosion of contrast for spring/summer, with wild prints juxtaposed against tailored elegance.

Fashionbite has posted Asos ‘behind the scenes’ for The Online Fashion Agency, but for an extended pic version of spring/summer looks, see below…

For statement appeal, inspiration comes from East and West Africa- with tribal prints and bejewelled necklines.

Softer style 60’s and 70’s bohemia has been reworked with a hint of the Orient using floral prints and dip dye.

The Asos Black collection, a limited edition range of party pieces, draws on fantasy and fairytale in an abundance of ruffles, lace and chiffon.

Acessories are big and ballsy, definite statement pieces…..

Wedges, killer heels and studding are strong in footwear…

BHS rocks accessories for spring ’10

Hard to imagine the blistering summer heat as snow billows down outside, I know..but thought I’d give you a glimpse of what’s on offer at BHS next season as a quick reminder.

I was impressed with the ranges for spring/summer ’10, the accessories in particular looked fantastic- the collection has come on leaps and bounds in the last few seasons. The bejewelled maxi dresses looked fab, dressed down with sandles as day wear or with heels and a cropped denim jacket for a night out.

This safari-stye dress with animal print lining would look great as workwear and the price points are fantastic, hovering between the £20 and £30 mark.

Spring/summer product will go on sale at BHS from early next year.

Louis Vuitton rocks clogs for spring ’10

Louis Vuitton’s footwear offer for spring/summer ’10 looks fantastic, and there was something for everyone (who has the budget!) at their press day this week with killer heels for the daring and clog-inspired kitten heels for those with a penchant for both comfort and fashion. Personally, I love the heels..I’m not sure how long I’d last in them though!

Marc Jacob’s spring/summer 2010 collection for Louis Vuitton moved far away from last season’s Parisian cocktail parties to a range inspired by new age travellers and life on the road. Oversized satchel and duffle bags in denim, apparently bleached by the sun, appeared in vivid shades of pink, green, orange and blue. Alongside sportsbag styles with fluorescent accessories.

To buy online, visit Louis Vuitton’s website early next year.

Matalan ss10 trend report

Matalan’s offer just gets better and better and ss10 does not disappoint! This gorgeous grey waterfall jacket (below) looks fantastic, the fabric feels amazing and it only costs £28.
Studding and embellishment on shoes, handbags and leather..a strong trend for autumn has continued into spring/summer.

Saw some gorgeous Miu Miu studded leather handbags at Liberty the other day…Matalan’s versions are a bit more affordable!
Underwear as outerwear, a key trend for ss10, was also shown off at Matalan. Love this floral print top. Along with bright florals and exotic, flower prints in abundance..looks great with a tan! Nautical stripes continue to be a strong trend for summer, love this striped jumper dress -only costs £14!
Matalan’s price points are fantastic for the quality of the product. You can buy all items online from early next year at www.matalan.co.uk.

I also hopped into bed with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen…all in the name of research of course!
We chatted about Laurence’s latest home/bed range for Matalan, which is bigger than ever before, and his upcoming new TV series. Laurence says: “The range is inspired by opera -it’s both opulent and theatrical. I’m really proud of it, I’ve turned up the volume on colour and it’s bigger than ever.”

The range does look fantastic and the new furniture items, such as a gorgeous glass-topped table, look like expensive vintage. Laurence says: “I’ll be moving more and more into furniture, the feedback has been really positive.”

Laurence is also launching a new TV series in January called House Gift on ITV. It will be on every weekday at around 4pm. He will be pitted against two experts each day to find the perfect house gift for various different households, using a budget of £200, £500 or £1000. Laurence says: “We have to find one thing which sums up people’s tastes. I’ve had fun with it, but the experts take it very seriously. It will be high end, Come Dine With Me style.”

Jaeger launches new line for ss10

mustard trench Following the success of Jaeger’s 125 collection, which launched last season to celebrate 125 years of the brand, Jaeger continues to draw on the brand’s rich heritage with a new limited edition range called Jaeger by Jaeger. I popped down to Jaeger’s press day yesterday and saw this fantastic mustard trench, which has been inspired by a Jaeger design from the 1960′s and reworked to make it relevant today. The whole collection gives a fresh spin on the label’s heritage with modern fabrics, finishes and cuts. You can get your hands on this gorgeous trench, along with other key items, from early next year at www.jaeger.co.uk..
jaeger 1 I also loved Jaeger’s accessories for ss10- the wedge shoes are fantastic! Seen lots of wedge heals- wooden and cork- around for spring/summer..I know the gold ones aren’t technically wedge- but loved the heal!

Also, if you’re looking for that perfect winter coat…Jaeger has up to £200 off a selection of fab winter coats..see their website more details.

It also has a fantastic range of ready-to-wear pieces, such as the new Resplendent Pearl line which would make fab Christmas presents! I love the ring (below)- inspired by Christmas tree baubles perhaps..? Resplendent_Pearl_Ring_Gold However, what’s really exciting for all you online lovers out there is their new website www.swarovski-crystallized.com which enbales you to customise a variety of pieces online by changing the colours, style..etc. It even offers advice on what shapes, lengths, styles will suit your face type!

Ethical inspired online

tribe worldwear Online seems to be the birthplace for new ethical fashion labels, a recent one being casualwear brand Tribe World Wear. Interestingly, Tim John- the British creative director/screenwriter whose credits include satirical comedy Spitting Image- is behind the brand, which features t-shirts, hoodies and yogawear. All clothing is produced from 100% Fairtrade bamboo or organic cottons-I have the organic cotton t-shirt (left) and i’m amazed at how soft it is, you can really feel the difference! You can buy the range online at www.tribeworldwear.com . On the down side, the website is not very intuitive..you have to scroll right down to the bottom of the page to view any of the products..but still worth a look.

eco-jewellery A new online jewellery site has sprung up www.katehh.co.uk. The company, based in North Wales, uses recycled modern and vintage biscuit/cake tins to create a range of accessories such as necklaces and bracelets. So if you’re looking for that quirky piece of jewellery..look for further!

Vintage fair hits London!

Vintage fair 1 So, I headed down to the Affordable Vintage Fair yesterday afternoon in East London…the third leg of its 12-City tour! A big queue congregated outside before the doors opened at midday and a frenzy of bargain hungry vintage lovers spilled in…
vintage fair 2
There was a 1950′s American-style pop-up cafe/diner in one corner and a singer belting out some fab tunes. I picked up a gorgeous cream fur coat (fake, of course!) with a suede belt-see below…buy 1 and a black, leather handbag with gold clasp detailing..buy 2

Shoppers looked fantastic- decked out in skinny jeans, bright acid colours, blazers and clashing fabrics, along with statement make-up – heavy eyeliner and bright red lips.

The vintage fair is heading to a city near you in the next few months including Cheshire, Cambridge, York, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle..to name but a few! For more info, check out the website at www.vintagefair.co.uk
