But to add to the list, The Design Museum, London, is launching an exhibition showcasing the work and career of iconic French shoe designer Christian Louboutin and The Denver Art Museum, Colorado, is hosting the internationally acclaimed exhibition ‘Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective’…phew! Selfridges launches library in flagship London store

Selfridges launches in store library, FashionBiteSelfridges has launched a library in its flagship London store, curated by four major publishers: Penguin, Thames & Hudson, Faber and Taschen. The idea behind it is to celebrate the “inspirational power of words and literature,” at a time when standards in reading, grammar and spelling are falling and also encourage people to switch off their phones/laptops and re-discover the power of reading! I think its such a fantastic idea and I can’t wait to pop down for a browse. Read more

GUEST REPORTER: Holly Sutton

“Girls just weren’t as good looking before GHD’s where they?”

Back in 2002, in a University halls of residence in Lancaster,  this was the bewildered response of a fresher watching frizzy haired girls (of which I was one) enter the room of a proud owner of GHDs…and exit with catwalk perfect silky tresses.  Read more

Valentine’s Day Love Notes – I could be persuaded…!

Valentine's Day Love Notes, Thomas Lyte, FashionBiteI have to say, I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day – being forced to show someone you love them with over-priced chocolates and cards (along with the rest of the country). To be honest, it’s the same reason I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Eve…it just feels too forced.  Read more

PICS – Mulberry’s new SS12 campaign, shot in Brighton!

Mulberry, SS12 campaign, FashionBiteI love the oversized, candy coloured theme of Mulberry’s SS12 campaign, shot in my beloved old home town of Brighton (I lived there for about 5 years before moving to London!) The shoot was inspired by creative director Emma Hill’s memories of the English seasides of her childhood. Read more

Melvita – Honey Bee Organic skincare in Covent Garden

Melvita store, Covent garden, FashionBiteMelvita store, Covent Garden, FashionBiteI went on a visit to the lovely Melvita store recently, tucked away off London’s Covent Garden in St. Martin’s Courtyard. The French brand is fairly new to the UK, the shop in Covent Garden has been around for just over a year, but it’s a fantastic concept and like no other store – it has a ‘Living Wall’ of greenery inside the shop and a honey-producing beehive on the roof (yes, you read that right!) FILM PREVIEW – FashionBite Review’s The Debt (due to be released on DVD Jan 23rd)

The Debt film review, FashionBite

GUEST REPORTER: Nathaniel Collins

When the film execs of Hollywood get their hands on a low budget but otherwise successful foreign film, the result can range from the fantastic (The Departed), to the confused (The Ring) to the outrageously blasphemous (too many to list but Arthur rings a recent and unfortunate bell).

The Debt, which tells the tale of three Mossad agents forced to revisit an uncomfortable past, is a remake of a 2007 Israeli film of the same title that for the most part delivers or at least doesn’t leave the purists angry. Read more
