Twitter was awash last night with excited Tweeters announcing and re-tweeting the news that former Jil Sander creative director Raf Simons has been appointed as artistic director of Christian Dior [along with the news that Facebook is buying Instagram!]
It has been one of the most highly anticipated appointments in the fashion world – causing much debate as to who will take the helm – since the role became available last year following the firing of former creative director and disgraced designer John Galliano.

I’m a huge fan of knitwear – chunky knits in the winter, fine merino wool in the summer, coatigans, cardigans …you name it. As an alternative to a coat (in this beautiful weather we’re having at the moment), a chunky knit cardigan is a great option.
Amy Hall is an emerging East London-based designer who specialises in hand-made knitwear.
Stella McCartney unveiled her newly designed Adidas Team GB kit for the London 2012 Olympics this morning. Stella, who attended the launch at the Tower of London, said she got her inspiration for the red, white and blue kit from…yes, you guessed it – the Union Jack! Read more
Streetwear label Illustrated People is launching a new range of digital tee’s and vests, based on images of East London which have been blown up and distorted.
The prints feature images of pavements, glass and ice which have been manipulated and re-sized to create the striking designs. Read more
