INTERVIEW: Meet Daisy Lowe
Daisy Lowe, the poster girl for girl-next-door grunge- a friend down the pub and an icon on the catwalk. Porcelain skin, never-ending legs, the iconic Lowe sultry eye and the rock ‘n’ roll attitude (and family) to match. We were lucky enough to get our mitts on a sneak preview of the Company interview for their November issue.
“I have wardrobe OCD. It’s colour coded and piece coded, so all my mini dresses hang together, then mid dresses, long dresses, jackets, followed by long coats. All my drawers have labels on them too. Yep, it’s pretty pristine.” If only our wardrobe was as organised! But with a vocation that includes walking the runway for Vivienne Westwood, PPQ and Mark Fast, there must be a lot to organise. “My wardrobe wouldn’t survive without my vintage, silver Chanel necklace because I wear it most days… (though) the first rule of jewellery is only wear gold when you have a tan.”
When it comes to what to wear this season, surely Lowe is the perfect girl to ask? “I’ll be making a statement this season in something from the Yayoi Kusama for Vuitton collection. I really want the red and white polka dot ra-ra skirt, I just think it’s amazing. I wouldn’t survive A/W without my leather jacket. I have loads, but the one I wear most, I found in a vintage shop called Poot, in Frome, Somerset. Somerset has the most amazing vintage shops but (tend to) avoid synthetic materials unless I really can’t help it, because they make you stinky!”
Having seen Daisy walk the latex designer, William Wilde’s SS13 show at The Box during LFW last month, it is interesting to see who else she will be supporting this season. “I love Craig Lawrence, he’s so talented. I wore a dress he made to the Baftas and I think he’s one to watch. I’m (also) obsessed with the StarMap 3D Plus app, which shows all the constellations. Oh, and my Jonathan Craner astrology app. ”
Best friends with Jaime Winstone, Gwen Stefani as her step-mum and counting the ever-so-suave Mark Ronson as an ex- Oh to be in Daisy’s world. Catch her on a Friday night hanging out in Spuntino’s in Soho. “They do great cocktails and there’s a really good vibe in there.” I’ll see you inside!
