There aren’t many things that can make us tear our eyes away from the luscious catwalk designs at an Oscar de la Renta show, but the designer’s Fall 2012 collection featured an array of arresting nail polishes that just couldn’t be ignored. We want them all, now!
Models sashaying along the runway could be seen wearing three shades to complement their super rosy cheeks and playful make-up – all designed by Oscar himself. The three shades (‘Red Carnation’, deep purple ‘Aubergine’ and sweet, pale ‘Larimar’) marked the designer’s first sojourn into colour cosmetics.
The colours chosen reflect the designer’s love of decadent jewel colours and autumnal tones – the dark plum shade is so sumptuous, it’s made us (almost) happy that the sun’s gone in so we can dig out our winter wardrobes! The beautifully soft, duck-egg blue tone of ‘Larimar’ is said to be reminiscent of a rare stone found only in the designer’s native Dominican Republic and the classic pillar-box ‘Red Carnation’ will go with everything.
We love the fact that Oscar has stuck to three great shades which work with his AW12 collection. You pick one up from the Oscar de le Renta website. We suggest you’re quick as they won’t be there for long!
