With partnerships such as Minnie Mouse and Barbie sponsoring Louise Gray it’s sure to be a bonkers, British fashion extravaganza that only London Fashion Week can do! The creativity that will pour out of London during Fashion Week will be both inspirational and infectious. Today, we posted our exclusive interview with fashion legend Colin McDowell – who reveals why London and Paris Fashion Weeks are now the big two, what’s the next big thing in fashion and his new found love of Victoria Beckham!
We’re super excited to see Mary Katrantzou, Louise Gray, Jonathan Saunders, Peter Pilotto, Issa London, Christopher Kane, Giles and Mulberry on schedule and of course the fantastic Fashion Fringe show (founded by Colin McDowell), which closes London Fashion Week. But we also CAN’T WAIT to see all the emerging British design talent this season, so will be covering as many off schedule fringe shows as possible, between our 4 strong team of writers and (new for this season) our fabulous catwalk photographer Gareth.
I’ve just been to the Antoni & Alison SS13 show, which opened London Fashion Week this season. Celebrating 25 years in the business, the design duo served up a feast of colour, florals and modern art inspired paint prints on a selection of very wearable silk dresses. Shifts, maxi’s and backless pieces in easy, fluid shapes strutted down the catwalk, accompanied by a brass band playing old British seaside music. I really loved this collection for its wearability, I could see myself throwing on any of the dresses to freshen up my look for spring – but then I do love a good old dose of colour, particularly in the abstract variety!
