Karl Lagerfeld and Shu Uemura to Collaberate – Beauty World Rejoices!

Last week, news broke that two of the most exciting names in the worlds of fashion and beauty are coming together as fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld revealed plans to work with beauty giant Shu Uemura on a make up collection, available in time for Christmas.

Earlier this year Lagerfeld revealed he had long been a fan of the cult beauty brand having used Shu Uemura eye shadows to hand colour his own designs for years. The designer explained simply that “other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors.”

But it would seem that Chanel’s creative director has grown tired of his current palette and wants a hand in creating a selection of fresh hues for his designs. The iconic designer will be responsible for the new collection’s colour selection as well as packaging.

So far very little has been revealed about what to expect from the hotly anticipated collection, although President of Karl Lagefield, Pier Paolo Righi, did hint to WWD that the collection will reflect the Paris-based designer’s “iconic, ironic style.”

For the man who once said “Vanity is the healthiest thing in life”  (Observer magazine 2006) an interest in the make up world is hardly surprising. Following the success of a previous, and somewhat eccentric, collection for french beauty brand Sephora we can’t wait to see what Kaiser Karl comes up with.

We don’t know whether to be more excited about the new collection or seeing what he does with those colours but needless to say Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura will be at the top of FashionBite’s Christmas list this year.
