French design house Céline – led by British designer Pheobe Philo – is set to reopen in London (after pulling out three years ago). It is understood Philo wanted to put her mark on the label, with her clean, pared-back aesthetic, before re-launching in London.
The luxury label has inked a deal to open a store on Mount Street (the location of the Jordan International Bank at 103).
Céline is one of a long list of major luxury labels to have opened a shop on Mount Street in recent years including Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin and Balenciaga. Earlier this week, Oscar de la Renta confirmed it will also open a store there.
Luxury brands Givenchy, Alaïa, Chloe, Yves Saint Laurent and Erdem are also understood to be in talks to open stores on Mount Street.
This raft of major luxury labels opening stores in London continues to cement the capital as a worldwide fashion destination and is great news for British fashion and designers.
