London Fashion Week Day 1 – Fydor Golan & Bora Aksu (…so far)

It’s around lunchtime at London Fashion Week on the first day (not that I’ll be eating much!)…my Fashion Week diet consists mainly of mineral water, booze and the odd fag (sorry Mum!).

FYDOR GOLAN

Fashion Fringe winners and design duo Fydor Golan showcased a brilliant collection for AW12 - inspired by the juxtaposition between Russian Czars and peasants - with oversized headdresses, long flowing tribal gowns, large metallic necklaces and embellished leather with a dark, gothic twist.

There was a feeling of the powerful warrier about it, but interjected with a more feminine style of 1950′s accentuated waists or drop-waist dresses and flapper skirts.

Heavy facial piercing brought a harder edge to the collection on a colour palette of burnt coppers, bright greens, reds and blacks with metallic highlights.

The facial adornments formed part of a collaboration with Alexandra Druzhinin.

The designers’ incorporated contrasting textures into the collection; from luxurious Mongolian velvets to quilted leather and lamb furs. New additions this season included sharp tailoring, overcoats and knitwear.

BORA AKSU

A muted palette of pastel tones and a rustic, French soundtrack transported you into the ethereal world of Bora Aksu for AW12.

Dresses and skirts were infused with a girlish charm in the shape of pleats, drapes, pussy bows and a good dose of Parisian charm. The collection would make great daywear.
