Melvita – Honey Bee Organic skincare in Covent Garden

I went on a visit to the lovely Melvita store recently, tucked away off London’s Covent Garden in St. Martin’s Courtyard. The French brand is fairly new to the UK, the shop in Covent Garden has been around for just over a year, but it’s a fantastic concept and like no other store – it has a ‘Living Wall’ of greenery inside the shop and a honey-producing beehive on the roof (yes, you read that right!)
The store stocks over 300 organic beauty and skincare products, from its best selling Argan, Macadamia and Rosehip Seed Oils to Rose Floral Waters and 100% organic Shea Butter. The staff are incredibly well trained on all the Melvita products and you can call up to book a complimentary skincare consultation, which includes a 20 minutes cleanse, tone and mini facial.
I’ve been trying the fabulous new Apicosma range, which includes a unique ‘3 Honey Complex’ which helps treat the causes of dry skin (great for winter!) The range smells absolutely gorgeous and I keep a tube of the Apicosma Extra Rich Hand cream (£16.50) on my desk, it’s great for dry hands. Along with the mini facial you can get complimentary fresh ginger, lemon and honey tea in store and also taste the different types of honey on offer, alongside the honey-based products.
Melvita prides itself on having ‘nature’ at the heart of the brand and has one of the widest ranges of certified organic beauty products in the world. The brand’s founder, French biologist and beekeeper Bernard Chevilliat, set up Melvita over 15 years ago in a region not far from the Ardēche Groges Nature Reserve, bordered by Provence and the Cévennes mounations. He set up a bee farm there and was driven by his love of ‘nature and beauty’ to create the Melvita brand. Now an expert in organic beauty care, Melvita is France’s leading ecological and organic beauty brand.
