John Galliano to design a collection for Topshop?
Rumours are circulating that John Galliano could design a range for Topshop, following in the footsteps of friend and former Topshop designer Kate Moss. It has been speculated that Galliano (who designed Kate’s stunning vintage-inspired wedding dress) may have been in talks with Topshop boss Sir Philip Green at Kate’s Cotswold wedding earlier this month.
If true, Topshop boss Sir Philip Green would be giving John Galliano a major fashion comeback, following his controversial sacking from luxury design house Christian Dior after he alledgedly made racist remarks to a group of people in a bar. However, if Green secures the deal it would be the biggest fashion collaboration ever, trumping H&M’s link-ups with Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney and even Topshop’s partnerships with Kate Moss and Christopher Kane, according to Vogue.co.uk.
Vogue said: “ The move would be a fashion resurrection for Galliano, especially as his return would be under the wing of Green, one of the country’s most influential Jewish businessmen.”
However, Green has since told Vogue that no conversation has taken place. He said: “I saw John Galliano at Kate’s wedding last Friday. I did not discuss any business with him then, nor have I since.”
Not a flat out denial then! I am so excited by this, I really hope it is true! I don’t in any way condone what was alledgedly said by Galliano, but I do absolutely love him as a designer. He’s always been one of my favourite designers and I’d love to finally be able to afford something designed by him!! Come on Topshop!
