The Outnet celebrates first birthday with £1 designer sale

Yes, it sounds too good to be true- designer clothes for just £1..but it’s no joke.

Before you do anything else, put April 16 in your diary!

The Outnet, Net-a-porter’s spin-off discount site- the self-styled ‘home of chic-onomics’, is launching a £1 pop-up sale for one-day only.

Thousands of items including ready-to-wear clothing, bags, shoes and accessories from over 200 designer brands will be available for just $1/£1/€1 while stocks last…I doubt for long!

To gain entry to the hottest designer sale this year- simply register at www.theoutnet.com and RSVP between now and April 11th.

If that’s not enough, there will also be a ‘golden ticket’ – selected at random from those that have RSVP’d – which will allow one lucky person the chance to preview and shop the sale before anyone else. The winner will work with an Outnet.com stylist to pick a fabulous outfit – five pieces – for the grand total of $5/£5/€5!

So, what would Fashionbite wear to The Outnet’s first birthday bash?

I would raid The Outnet and rock up in this fab Preen veronica silk dress, with 50% off at £480, accessorised with a Thomas Wylde suede clutch, down 60% to £394 and finished off with these stunning peep-toe Halston boots, down 70% to £492.

So, get your skates on and register at www.theoutnet.com/birthday…can’t wait!

FIRST LOOK: Tesco launches premium range ‘F&F Couture’

Tesco launched its first ever premium range exclusively online at www.tescoclothing.com today.

The range is Tesco’s first foray into the world of high fashion, ok..well, not quite high fashion, but certainly a lot more premium than anything it has done before.

The 16 piece collection mixes prints, textures and oversized embellishment with tailored shorts, cropped silk harem pants and sculptured pagoda jackets. Prices range from £40 to £140.

I love the denim jacket (above), would look fab over this summer’s hot, new trend for sportswear-inspired trousers- see Fashionbite’s post Jog On or over the silk harem pants (above).

GET THE LOOK: Nude Draping

Nude colour tones and draping were all over the catwalks for spring/summer ’10- Jennifer Aniston looked stunning in this beautiful Donna Karen dress (left) at a premier recently…accessoried with a great tan of course!

You can steal her style with this fab high street version in jersey fabric from Damsel in a Dress, goes on sale April 19 and costs just £99. You can buy the label online at John Lewis.

LIFESTYLE: Fabulous furniture- a sign of age?

Maybe I’m getting old, but my new love du jour is beautiful furniture for the home -ok, well buying a few bits and lusting after the rest!

I’ve just bought a beautiful, hand-crafted solid mahogany desk from Furniture Emporium- it’s gorgeous and I’m saving up for a wardrobe, dressing table, bedside table…..ahh..the list goes on..

I find myself poring over the pages of Grazia, Style magazine or Vogue when there’s an article delving into someone’s fabulously stylish home. And I’m intrigued and genuinely interested when someone tells me about their new Vivien Westwood wallpaper for the hallway…unfortunately, not something I can afford just yet!

This is a new found desire, normally it’s the fashion pages I’m lusting over, as I said..I think it’s a sign of age..

Anyway, I found this great little boutique the other day in Islington, called Decorexi- you can also buy their stuff online. It’s actually a wholesaler (which keeps prices very low!) but you can still buy direct from them. It has a gorgeous range of antique and vintage furniture pieces (above), all at really low prices..perfect! I bought a stunning antique jewellery stand for just £18. If you’re into your character pieces, it’s definitely worth a look!

I was suprised by how much antique furniture is also available to buy on Ebay , there are some really great deals out there…so maybe the dressing table, wardrobe, bedside table… are not so far away!

HEALTH: Slimming pants- magic or myth?

There’s been a lot of press recently about slimming, anti-cellulite, sculpting pants- with claims that they reduce hips by 4cm and thighs by 2 cm- sounds too good to be true…so, I thought I’d give them a try!

For the last month I’ve been wearing the Skin’Up Corsair Sculpting Action shorts (they look exactly like cycling shorts) to see if all the hype is true. You can buy them online at www.bodyclock.co.uk and www.ebeautyproducts.co.uk.

The pants have millions of slimming capsules built into the garment fibres which break open as the body moves, releasing a natural slimming aid throughout the day…so it claims. The capsules contain Fucus vesiculosus, a type of sea kelp (natural fat burner) marine algae, vitamin E, sunflower seed oil and safflower seed oil which have moisturizing properties as well.

The idea is to wear the shorts every day for 30 days, throughout the day, and you will see a visible difference by the end of the period-here are my thoughts…

WEEK 1

I first put on the pants which felt REALLY tight..maybe I need them more than I thought! They look like extra tight cycling shorts..nice! Not very attractive, think Bridget Jones’ big ‘mummy’ knickers. I’m also very happy I’m doing this trial when it’s cold and wet and an extra layer of clothing is much appreciated! I can’t imagine how you’d wear them in the summer- but you’d probably want to be slim and cellulite-free by then anyway. For me, I’d like to reduce my inner thigh size by a few inches (if possible!) and get rid of the appearance of cellulite at the top backs of my legs. Is it a tall order for 30 days…?

WEEK 2

After the first week I’m starting to see some changes- I don’t know whether this is wishful thinking but my bum actually looks a bit smaller. The shorts give my bottom a slightly odd shape when I’m wearing them, but it really lifts the cheeks and holds them firm- it feels like it’s working anyway! The shorts did take a few days of getting used to though, when I took them off for the first few days my legs and stomach felt slightly tingly and itchy, but that soon subsided.

WEEK 3

I haven’t been totally dedicated this week, I must admit, as the pants can be quite restrictive in terms of dress choice…i.e. no body-con! And it’s been London Fashion Week, so the last thing I wanted is a big pair of pants poking out from under my dress. I’ve been trialing the longer shorts, but if I was doing it again I would interchange the longer and shorter pair to adapt to my outfits. I was finding I had to roll-up the shorts when I was wearing a short dress, which made them stick out slightly- but apart from that, I hardly notice they’re there now.

WEEK 4

So…the final week and the moment of truth- have they worked? Yes! I’ve lost about an inch from my right inner thigh and about the same from my left. The gap between my thighs is visible, so they appear to have the done the job. Cellulite does appear reduced, although the transformation is less dramatic, but I would definitely recommend trying them for a month (if nothing else, the restrictiveness makes you think about what you’re eating!). I also used a spray along with the shorts, which you sprayed on the pants every evening to give the micro-capsules a boost- you can buy that online as well.

VERDICT

9/10.

Tip: I would start wearing them soonish, before it gets too warm!

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer launches next week

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC), the charity event which raises money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, is celebrating its 14th year in true fashionista style.

The campaign, originally launched by Ralph Lauren in 1994 after his friend died of breast cancer, is joining forces with some of the UK’s hottest fashion stores to raise money for cancer research. This year’s campaign, called ‘Wear Your Support,’ is all about showing support by wearing items from your favourite fashion stores.

Brands, such as M&S, River Island, Topshop, Coast, Warehouse, Whistles, Superdry and My-Wardrobe, are all launching limited edition pieces. There is something for everyone, whether it be a lingerie set from M&S, a dress from Coast or a hoodie from Superdry. This is my kind of campaign, supporting cancer research through buying fashion- I’ll have the lot!

The online store is launching next Monday March 29 at Fashion Target’s Breast Cancer’s website, when the three famous faces of this year’s campaign will also be unveiled, shot by Mario Testino. Past faces include Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Twiggy, Gisele and Natalie Imbruglia…so watch this space!

FTBC pics, bracelets and travel wallets will also be available to buy exclusively from River Island, Topshop and Superdry..so brace yourselves for a fashion enslaught next Monday…what better way to raise some money!

UPDATE: Asos opens its doors to fashion bloggers

Asos opened its doors to fashion bloggers for the first time last night with an amazing night of clothes, catwalks and champagne.

The online fashion giant showcased some of its fabulous spring/summer ’10 offer and fashion bloggers were able to try the pieces on, have photos taken and strut down the famous Asos catwalk. This is my attempt in a gorgeous maxidress, huge 6 inch peep toe ankle boots and some high summer sunnies.

There were also make-up artists and hair stylists on hand to try out some of the cool beauty brands on offer. A brilliant, bright pink lipgloss by Illamasqua was in the goodie bag (love it!), along with a chunky silver necklace and Asos vouchers.

It felt like I’d stumbled into a huge wardrobe full of dressing-up clothes, but new season! It was so much fun and the Asos staff are so lovely, friendly and welcoming.

Asos is always 10 steps ahead of the game and last night was another example. The only problem, I now have a summer wish-list as long as my arm…better start saving!

ASOS: Opens its doors to bloggers

I’m heading to an Asos: Access All Areas event tonight at their head office in North London…can’t wait!

The online fashion giant is kindly opening its doors to a select few of us to browse their new spring/summer ’10 collection and try on our favourite pieces, accompanied by a glass of bubbly of course! We’ll also get the chance to strut our stuff on the famous Asos runway..hopefully not too tipsy -so we won’t be copying the Agyness tumble (below) at the Fashion for Relief Haiiti event last month.

I’ll update later with all the pics and goss from the night…

Elise Ryan: Catwalk trends, high street prices

Have you come across Elise Ryan before?

The online site takes catwalk trends and recreates them at high street prices- great if you love your seasonal looks but can’t afford the price tags.

A key spring trend, underwear as outerwear, as seen at Dior (below)- see Fashionbite’s post ‘New Season Preview-Part II’ has been channeled in some fab, new dresses- all hovering around the £50 mark.

Make a great alternative to your LBD- think Madonna in the early ’90′s, rather than Lady Gaga.
