Ethical inspired online

tribe worldwear Online seems to be the birthplace for new ethical fashion labels, a recent one being casualwear brand Tribe World Wear. Interestingly, Tim John- the British creative director/screenwriter whose credits include satirical comedy Spitting Image- is behind the brand, which features t-shirts, hoodies and yogawear. All clothing is produced from 100% Fairtrade bamboo or organic cottons-I have the organic cotton t-shirt (left) and i’m amazed at how soft it is, you can really feel the difference! You can buy the range online at www.tribeworldwear.com . On the down side, the website is not very intuitive..you have to scroll right down to the bottom of the page to view any of the products..but still worth a look.

eco-jewellery A new online jewellery site has sprung up www.katehh.co.uk. The company, based in North Wales, uses recycled modern and vintage biscuit/cake tins to create a range of accessories such as necklaces and bracelets. So if you’re looking for that quirky piece of jewellery..look for further!

Champneys launches Thai Royale range

thai royale finalIn keeping with its Eastern themed body ranges, Champneys has launched a new Thai Royale collection- just in time for Christmas! I’ve been using the body wash and moisturiser for the last few weeks and they smell gorgeous, leaving my skin really soft.

The scent is far more subtle than Champneys other Oriental and Exotic ranges- combining a mixture of ginger, lemongrass and vetiver essential oils, alongside Coconut milk and frangipani flower milk to create an authentic Thai aroma. Price points are also great, ranging from £7 to £12. You can buy it online at www.champneys.com or in Sainbury’s stores.

Also, I couldn’t talk about Champneys without mentioning the fantastic Oriental body glistening oil… oriental perfect for the party season! Just rub it on to create that perfect beach bronzed look..without the fuss! It’s a glistening body oil but also a great moisturiser- a blend of jojoba oil, gold mica and ylang ylang- your skin smells amazing, feels great and glistens all over. It’s a perfect last minute product if you haven’t had time to fake tan.

Julianne launches website

Julianne 1 Julianne, the luxury ready-to-wear clothing label, has launched a transactional website at www.julianneboutique.co.uk. The brand, which is also stocked at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, combines femininity and glamour, using fabrics such as silks and French laces, to produce a collection which blurs the boundaries between intimate apparel and outerwear.

London-based Australian designer Nicky Adamo is taking her first tentative steps into retail, having previously just wholesaled the brand, and the collections are inspired by her frequent travels abroad. Nicky also launched Julianne Black this year, a diffusion line which focuses on softly tailored dresses, blouses and skirts and the website has a new bridal section.

Nicky says: “My philosophy is that we all need a little bit of decadence and glamour in our day, whether it’s wearing a silk chemise to bed or a lace blouse to work…”

Dresses start at £145 for a silk georgette piece lined with stretch silk satin, but you can also pick up a gorgeous silk camisole for £45. If you’re looking for that stunning party dress, or simply a luxurious blouse to wear to work, check out the new website…you won’t be disappointed.

Blink’s fab brow bars!

Blink womanIf you haven’t been for an eyebrow threading at one of Blink’s brow bars..you’re definitely missing out. I went for the first time yesterday afternoon and the result was amazing! I headed to Blink’s drop-in bar in Selfridges on Oxford Street to give it a try.

The girls were brilliant, friendly and professional, and the treatment was so quick and pain free it was over in 15 mins. Best of all was the result..the shape was fantastic- far better than anything I’ve achieved by plucking over the last 10 years.

Threading is an ancient Indian skill which uses twisted cotton thread to entwine hair and remove it from the follicle. Blink’s celebrity fans include Girls Aloud, Lily Allen, The Saturdays and Leona Lewis. It costs £17, and is well worth it..I’ll definitely be back in a month or so for a top up!

Blink Blink also has a fab range of beauty products, which you can buy online at www.blinkbrowbar.com. The website also has details of all the Blink Brow Bars. I’ve been using the Rose Gel facial moisturiser which is great on my skin. It’s light, cool to touch and dries to a matte finish which looks great under make-up. It also contains pure rose water which has fantastic anti-ageing properties-some people swear by it- along with cucumber extracts, plum seed oil and Aloe Vera to refresh and moisturise. The nourishing brow oil is great to dab on after a threading treatment and the eyebrow gel is great for grooming!

Vintage fair hits London!

Vintage fair 1 So, I headed down to the Affordable Vintage Fair yesterday afternoon in East London…the third leg of its 12-City tour! A big queue congregated outside before the doors opened at midday and a frenzy of bargain hungry vintage lovers spilled in…
vintage fair 2
There was a 1950′s American-style pop-up cafe/diner in one corner and a singer belting out some fab tunes. I picked up a gorgeous cream fur coat (fake, of course!) with a suede belt-see below…buy 1 and a black, leather handbag with gold clasp detailing..buy 2

Shoppers looked fantastic- decked out in skinny jeans, bright acid colours, blazers and clashing fabrics, along with statement make-up – heavy eyeliner and bright red lips.

The vintage fair is heading to a city near you in the next few months including Cheshire, Cambridge, York, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle..to name but a few! For more info, check out the website at www.vintagefair.co.uk

Nude’s probiotic skincare..

nude skincare

There’s a fab skincare range called Nude, you can buy it online at www.nudeskincare.com. I’ve been using the age defence moisturiser which is fantastic on my skin and I love the packaging-it’s matt and so soft to touch!! It’s not the packaging..I know, I know..it’s what’s inside that really counts- but this range does not disappoint! The moisturiser I’ve been using took three years to develop and is a combination of orchid/ manketti oil to moisturise the skin and hyaluronic acid to reduce fine lines and wrinkles-it’s also thrown in some natural pre and probiotics for good measure. The result is a light anti-ageing cream that really works! I often find traditional anti-ageing moisturisers can be too heavy/greasy for my skin and can bring me out in spots.

Also, for that extra boost (especially in the winter months) add Nude’s deep cleansing mask to the mix for your weekly skin boost- relax back in the bath for 10 minutes and let the cream do the work.

Enjoy!

Gemsta unveiled..

Gemsta 1Gemsta 2Gemsta 3gemsta 4gemsta 5gemsta 6gemsta 7gemsta 8 www.gemsta.com is visually fascinating. Whether you love it or loathe it, it’s certainly pioneering a new way to shop online. However, not just a shopping site..it’s also a 3D search destination with links to Google, Yahoo and pretty much every other search engine out there. You can shop, search, compare..and even send postcards to friends from the different islands! The company hopes in the future that Gemsta will be set as everyone’s homepage..big ambition!

The website will launch this Friday (initially with just the shopping island) in time for the Christmas rush. The other three islands (entertainment, travel and discovery) are scheduled to go live early next year. The shopping island will launch with over 500 retailers, such as French Connection and Kurt Geiger, who are featuring in 50 different 3D shopping environments based on real-life places, such as Sunset Boulevard. Shoppers will be able to amble down the virtual streets, then click on a specific store which will lead them directly to the retailer’s website to buy the product.

Gemsta is the brainchild of Richard Laing and a team of architects from Prime, the architecture and property development firm, who have used their skills in constructing buildings to develop an incredibly advanced 3D search and shopping tool. I could spend hours detailing all the various aspects of the new website…but i’ll leave it to you to discover for yourselves on Friday..let me know your thoughts!

Future face of online?

gemstaI’m off to preview a new website which is due to launch in the UK on Friday (and the US next year). It’s being hailed as ‘the future face of internet shopping,’ and from looking at the demo sites..I can definitely see why! The site is called Gemsta.com, you can have a look for yourselves at www.gemsta.com. The website is a 3D, virtual search and shopping destination-it looks incredible and will revolutionise the way we shop online! It’s like being in a computer game and shopping on a virtual high street…fantastic for the xbox/playstation generation!

The site consists of 4 islands, based on real world places. The first island is for shoppping, the second travel, the third entertainment and the fourth discovery..there is even a Monaco race track where you can test drive cars! The shopping island has over 500 brands, including all your high street favourites such as Marks and Spencer, Kurt Geiger, Coast, Austin Reed, Office and John Lewis, located in 50 shopping malls on the island. You can meander along the streets and sunny plazas all day to shop for items..the benefit of it never raining!

I’ll be writing a detailed review of Gemsta and who’s behind the launch on tomorrow’s fashionbite…so keep posted!
